Boredom is a forgotten art — Why I spend 5 minutes doing nothing every day
Boredom is an interesting thing.
It has led to a sheer waste of precious time, resulting in ruined lives. Paradoxically, it has also sparked thoughts that led to the invention of the very things our lives would be incomplete without.
In today’s generation, being busy is the fad. People who always have something to do are the ‘it’ people. People who lie down for hours doing nothing are the idiots.
And they are. They usually have a screen in their hand that keeps them ‘busy’ for hours.
But what about the people who sit in the sun, without anything to do, just feeling the rays hit their skin and letting the warmth spread through their body while thinking about how grateful they are to be alive today?
Or people who walk around barefoot trying to feel the ground underneath them, and notice every flower, plant, or rock that comes in their way with sharp focus.
Or the people who eat without the ‘help’ of a screen, enjoy every bite, taste and flavour, and feel…
